One Dead After Single-Vehicle Crash in College Township

A State College woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in College Township, according to borough police.

Darlene M. Depto, 45, died of blunt force trauma to the head, neck and chest after the crash on the 400 block of Trout Road, the Centre County Coroner’s Office said on Friday. The manner of death was ruled accidental

The crash happened at about 3:45 p.m. and emergency responders arrived to find Depto entrapped in the vehicle with serious injuries, police wrote in a statement on Thursday.

Depto, who police identified as the driver, was extricated from the vehicle, but life-saving efforts were unsuccessful.

Police provided no further details about the crash.

Trout Road was closed between Gerald Street and Houserville Road during the response.
